Adam Pruett, M.D., M.P.H

Integrative Psychiatry

Adam PruettAdam Pruett, MD, MPH graduated from Birmingham-Southern College magna cum laude with a BA in German.  He completed medical school at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) and completed his residency at Emory University where he served as chief resident at Grady Hospital where he played an instrumental role in teaching and supervising new doctors.

Now, for over the last 10 years, Dr. Pruett has been primarily functioning in an inpatient setting in Alabama and now Vermont. During this time, while having a truly fulfilling and wonderful experience, he coveted more.

Dr. Pruett also completed an immersive year-long fellowship with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute focusing on integrative psychiatry  —  a form of psychiatry that looks to resolve the underlying causes of mental illness.

Integrative psychiatry is a practice that goes beyond symptom reduction and instead helps patients attain a state of wellness.

Consequently, he discovered precisely what he wanted next.

That’s why Dr. Pruett, along with Dr. Ben Stillman — his partner and colleague for the past year at Path at Stone Summit — are enthused by their new practice, Taconic Psychiatry.

At Taconic Psychiatry, he and Dr. Stillman are fulfilling another need—the need for purpose. They need to serve their patients by helping them actively pursue treatment in a setting that permits true connection.

A setting they have both purposefully created for you with your emotions, thoughts, and well-being as their muse.

Dr. Pruett also loves to run and hopes to someday run a marathon on every continent (he’s done six so far).  He also enjoys a good hike, a great read, and whenever he can, he does love to travel. But his young son and family keep him pretty busy.
